Talking Head Videos

Lesson 1

Today we’re going to talk about making face as a real person. AKA talking head videos.

I don’t like doing talking head videos.

I’m not a pretty young thing anymore, I blink constantly, I hesitate mid-sentence and do a whole lot of other things that I don’t like to see in my videos.

But the thing is, when you do talking head videos people get to know you. They relate to you as a real person. So they start to like you and trust you.

It’s a bit of a cliché, but people buy stuff from people that they know, like, and trust.

So bite the bullet and do the talking head thingy.

Use your video editing software to cut out the daggy bits. Check out Camtasia.

You don’t have to do the entire video as a talking head. After the intro you can switch to voice-over.

You will probably find voice-over is less intimidating than talking head.

You can create your talking head videos using your mobile phone, or tablet, or even your computer.

With Windows 10 you can use the built-in camera app.

Select the video icon, then click on it again to start recording. Click the red button to stop recording when you’re finished.

Click the camera roll at the bottom right to check your recording. And use the 3 dots at the top right to find your saved video.

Open Camtasia and use Add Media to bring in your talking head video.

You’ll want to crop the video, so use the cropping tool at the top of your screen.

Chop out the bits that you don’t want to use.

If you’re not happy with the end result than just go back to the camera app and do it again.

When you’ve finished editing the talking head video place it in track 2 so it will appear over the top of your screenshot video.

Use the arrow icon to drag in the corners of your talking head to reduce the size and then you can place it wherever you would like it to appear on the screen. Usually the bottom right corner.

As always, save your project frequently.

You will find that the more times you do the talking head videos it will become less daunting.

Bite the bullet, and just do it.

I’ll see you in the next video.
